SUSTAINABILTY

At sahara, sustainability is central to our mission. Together, we're building a greener, more equitable future.

SDG

OBJECTIVE

We are aware that our planet is facing enormous economic, social and environmental challenges.

To address them, the United Nations has created the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which prioritize global goals for the year 2030. At Sahara, we have chosen four goals to focus on, as we believe that our strength as a digital advertising agency will make the most of it to contribute to a more sustainable future.

3: Health and well-being

We believe that all our employees need to feel good and be in good health.

To promote this, our establishments offer, among other things, weekly yoga classes or other forms of exercise. We also ensure our employees have easy access to fresh fruit and other healthy nutrition.

In addition, we try to have health-promoting events such as walks and bike rides and encourage employees to exercise.

4: Education for all

We understand that good education and training are the basis for new opportunities and regularly invite our employees to attend courses for further education, such as at Facebook Blueprint, Google or Hubspot. We also hold workshops for staff at every opportunity and have implemented a so-called "Educational Friday" in our office, where staff share their knowledge with each other.

5: Gender equality

Sahara has a clear policy regarding gender equality and we are against any form of discrimination. We encourage people of all genders to apply for a job with us, regardless of their nationality, religion or background. With that, we try to equalize the position of the sexes within our walls.

13: Climate Actions

By mapping and reporting the direct emissions of greenhouse gases from our operations, we support climate protection. In our offices and at the events we hold, we do not use plastic cups and glasses or paper plates. If necessary, they are made from recycled material. When purchasing essential products for the organization, we also use reusable bags made from sustainable materials and complete them with our electric car owned by the organization. In addition, a large part of the agency's furniture and accessories were bought in second-hand stores. In this way, we want to actively work against the caste community.

HOW WE SUPPORT

THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE  CHANGE

We would like to mention that we know we are not perfect. Nevertheless, we do our best to contribute to a better future and to have a positive impact on all of its stakeholders as it moves toward sustainability.

For this reason, we annually compensate the emissions we cause through the Icelandic  Wetland  Fund  Votlendi  monitored by the Icelandic president Mr. Gudni Th. Jóhannesson. The Fund‘s primary objective is to contribute to the reclamation of wetlands and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Iceland, as well as to promote the recovery of biosphere, birdlife and improving aquatic resources.

The Board of Directors is responsible for this sustainability policy. The Executive Director is responsible for its implementation. As such, the policy will be reviewed on an annual basis.
